Cream Puff Cake is a dreamy
Cream Puff Cake is a dreamy, light-as-air dessert that takes the best parts of a classic cream puff and transforms them into a no-fuss, family-sized cake. With a tender, golden pastry base, cool vanilla pudding cream filling, and a whipped topping finish, this cake feels fancy but is actually super easy to make. Whether it’s for a birthday, a Sunday brunch, or a midweek treat, it brings a bakery-quality dessert right into your kitchen—with minimal effort!
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 large eggs
- 1 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
- 2 3.4 oz each boxes instant vanilla pudding mix
- 3 cups cold milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup whipped topping Cool Whip
- Chocolate syrup or melted chocolate for drizzling optional
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
In a medium saucepan, bring water and butter to a boil over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in the flour until a smooth dough forms.
Let the dough cool for about 5 minutes. Then, beat in the eggs one at a time until the mixture is smooth.
Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking dish and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until it is puffy and golden brown.
Allow it to cool completely.
In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until it’s smooth. Add the pudding mix, cold milk, and vanilla extract, and beat until it thickens.
Spread the filling over the cooled crust. Then, spread the whipped topping over the pudding layer.
Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving, and drizzle with chocolate syrup if desired.

Tips to Make Cream Puff Cake

- If you want more flavor, mix in a little lemon zest or cocoa powder into the filling.
- Always refrigerate the cake before serving for the best texture.
Variation
You can try adding different flavors to the filling, like chocolate pudding instead of vanilla, or you can make a fruity version using cheesecake-flavored pudding.
