Nana’s Apple Crisp

Ingredients
  

  • 10 cups peeled cored, and sliced all-purpose apples
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup melted butter

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, white sugar, 1 tablespoon of flour, and ground cinnamon. Toss to coat the apples evenly and transfer to the prepared baking dish. Pour 1/2 cup of water over the apple mixture.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the oats, 1 cup of flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and baking soda. Stir in the melted butter until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle the oat topping over the apple mixture.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  • Allow to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm, optionally topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
