Oyster Stew

Oyster Stew is a cozy dish that warms you from the inside out. It combines fresh oysters with creamy milk, making it a comforting meal perfect for any occasion. This stew is simple to make and is sure to impress your family and friends.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 stalks celery finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 quart whole milk or half-and-half for a richer stew
  • 1 pint fresh oysters shucked, with their liquid
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped

Instructions
 

  • In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion, celery, and garlic; sauté until the vegetables are soft.
  • Pour in the whole milk (or half-and-half) and heat gently without boiling.
  • Add the oysters along with their liquid, and season with salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper if using.
  • Cook for about 5-7 minutes, until the oysters are just cooked and the stew is heated through.
